★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 819 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $160Our pick

Spend four hours walking from Red Fish Grill to Cane & Table, tasting gumbo, muffuletta, jambalaya, pralines, plantains, and four full-size cocktails. Guides such as Meg, Ben, Gary, and Dylan connect each bite to New Orleans history. This 21-plus tour suits first-time visitors who can walk comfortably.

“Meg was an excellent guide and was very knowledgeable. The price of $160 per person was, in my opinion, high for what we actually received on the tour. We received 4 drinks, 3 food samplings, and praline samples on the tour at 5 different stops. While the stops were very nice, but what we received wasn't worth the price. The tastings were good but not what we envisioned as a real New Orleans experience.”

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 519 reviews · 3 hours (approx.) · from $115

Meet at the French Market at 5 p.m. for a three-hour French Quarter food and cocktail walk. You’ll visit four stops, taste four food portions and four cocktails, and hear local history from guides such as Jack, Craig, Nate, Rob, or Milton. The menu changes, so tell the operator about allergies before you go.

“Not worth the money. They were not able to find the balance between food experience and alcohol. It felt like they were trying to stretch a 1 hour experience into 3 hours. We spent 15 -20 minutes max at each location with very little to eat, and most of the time was spent outside with a history lesson that was barely audible. The tour guide dropped up off in the restaurants and then got us when we needed to leave. Which would have been fine if it wasn’t hyped up that it was going to be interactive and get to know each other and learn the history of the food.…”
